Opoka is an innovative, exciting, grassroots charity working across the South West. Our aim is to creating a world free of domestic violence where women and children feel safe, secure and can engage and participate in society. We do this by offering safe and engaging support to help survivors of domestic violence to improve their lives and build self-sustainable futures. We provide opportunities to help women and children to move forward to begin their recoveries free from violence and abuse.

You will be joining a team of committed and inspiring individuals whose dedication has saved the lives of women and children. We are looking for a friendly and diligent individual to join our services and help us make a difference.

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for risk and needs assessing and safety planning with survivors of domestic violence. They will hold a caseload of service users identified as requiring short-term and long-term intervention, providing advice, advocacy and onward referral where appropriate.

About you

We’re looking for highly organised and self-motivated applicants who are passionate about ending gender-based violence. You will have a “can-do‟ approach and demonstrable commitment to Opoka’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer. You will receive training and support for this role as necessary.

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on service users and their children, and experience of working with women who have experienced domestic and/or sexual abuse including strong casework management skills.

You will understand the legal system in how it relates to survivors of domestic violence and have strong communication skills to deliver presentations and reports to stakeholders effectively. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

Essential:

  • Qualified IDVA with work experience in Domestic Abuse sector minimum 2 years
  • Fluent in Polish and English
  • Clean Driving licence
  • Access to own vehicle
  • An enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service)
