Who we are

About Opoka

Opoka has been working to improve the lives of Polish women and their families since 2012.

We offer safe and specialist support to help survivors of domestic violence to improve their lives and build a better future. Our services are delivered by highly trained specialist bilingual domestic violence experts, who are very experienced at providing this kind of support.

We provide opportunities to help women and children to move forward to begin their recovery free from violence and abuse. We achieve this by tailoring our services to meet the needs of the women we support. We do this by assessing and managing risk and where needed bringing together a multi-agency, multi-tiered collaborative approach to reduce and eliminate risks.

The difference we want to make

Opoka’s aim is for women and their children to have greater freedom from all forms of domestic violence and abuse. As well as helping those who do experience domestic violence and abuse to benefit from greater care, support, justice, and other services needed to ensure physical and mental health, social wellbeing and financial security.

We will achieve this by achieving five outcomes

  • Improving the immediate health, safety and wellbeing of women and families and to help them feel safer and more empowered to seek help
  • Reducing disadvantage and inequality by helping women to improve their financial and economic security
  • Raising community awareness and reaching the most isolated and vulnerable families who need our support
  • Strengthening local capacity to support women and children by training and working with local professionals
  • Improving the sustainability of funding for our services
