We need your help!

More volunteers are needed to cover our Helpline service on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 am until 1 pm.

If you are naturally compassionate and able to offer a minimum of 3 hours per week we will welcome you as our valued volunteers who will be here to listen and to offer emotional support to women experiencing domestic violence and abuse. We would like to hear from you! You will receive very comprehensive training from our specialist team.

About our Helpline

Our confidential helpline facility is operational from 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday.

However, in order to manage the workload effectively and safely that is generated by this we only answer calls as outlined above.  The rest of the time we are dealing with the practical aspects of delivering support to our vulnerable clients and other professionals helping them during all other times including calling people back and responding to requests that are deemed as urgent.

***Monday to Friday for all ongoing management of the support required that comes in from e-mails, voice messages, internal and external referrals, and from when we are available to actually answer calls (except on staff training or away days check our Social Media; Facebook page Opoka CIO, or on our website for any updates here www.opoka.org.uk)

Please note this is not an emergency resource if you or your children are at immediate risk or danger phone 999 immediately and once you are safe contact us using the numbers available through our website if no one is available leave a message or if you cannot reach us, please send us an e-mail to: [email protected]  and we will respond within 2 working days.

Out of hours/Can’t get through

If you call outside the helpline hours or cannot get through during operating hours, we have a 24-hour answer machine, you can leave your details if you wish to be called back when the helpline is next open. Please only leave a number if it is safe to do so.

If you are already Opoka‘s client, please use this number 0117 427 00 12 instead.

Remember not to call the helpline number as you might hold the line and someone who really needs help right now won’t get through.

To call your support/key worker call 0117 427 0012 and ask to talk to them or leave a message, they are working Monday to Friday 9 -5, but they might be doing their operational work, so is ok to send them an email and will respond to your email as soon as they can.

In an emergency or for urgent medical assistance, please call 999.
